Learner Response:

What were the strengths and weaknesses of your final film? Write a detailed analysis picking out specific shots, edits and any other aspect of film language you think is relevant.

A weakness of my film was that the ending seemed quite abrupt and in order to avoid that I should have used an edit such as dip to black to make the transition look smoother. A strength of my film was that I used low key lighting which helped create the dark atmosphere for my film and interrogation scene. The low key lighting also helped focus the viewers attention on the characters. Another strength of mine was the use of match on action shot when the protagonist slammed the case file on to the desk which emphasised the seriousness of the situation. I also used slow motion to intensify the scene when required.

What aspect of editing did you find most difficult? How will you further develop your editing skills prior to starting the coursework in June?

The most difficult part for me was trying to get the audios from different shots to play over other shots and switch back from the shot/reverse shots. I will continue to practise different skills on premiere pro and watch YouTube tutorials in order to get help and a better understanding of the programme.
