Learner response

1) Type up your feedback in full (you do not need to write mark/grade if you do not wish to).

WWW:Some effective textual analysis of the unseen text and the CSP'S
EBI:Avoid repetition Q1 needs more varied approach ,much  more knowledge of the CSPS needed especially wider context.

2) Did you succeed in meeting or exceeding your target grade for A Level Media in this paper? If not, how many additional marks do you need to achieve your target grade in Paper 2?

Unfortunately I did not meet my target grade, my predicted grade for media is a B.

3) Write a question-by-question analysis of your performance. For each question, write how many marks you got from the number available and identify any points that you missed by carefully studying the AQA indicative content in the mark scheme:

Q1:4/9 MARKS
Additional points:
The idea that feminism has sought to analyse media representations in terms of inequalities of gender. Also the analysis of the male gaze theory and the representations it positions for male.in order to score higher marks i could have also included in my answer, the idea that the female character had connotations of hierarchy and power and should have linked it to the post feminism theory.

Q2:3/25 MARKS
Additional points
The extreme nature of the plots means that viewers are unlikely to experience resonance, the CSPs combine extreme situations with more realist approaches which may well resonate and affect viewers, the TV CSPs are consumed in a very different media landscape to that of the original theory – is it possible to have TV drama as the dominant source of information? distinction between light and heavy viewers and their differing responses – consider target audience for each series. Also the concepts of first order and second order effects.

Q3:15/25 MARKS
Additional points
The Voice is unusual as it is still owned by an independent company, it has very limited multi-media presence, The Voice is aimed at a niche audiences in a period of global media targeting, teen Vogue has explicitly political content which challenges dominant ideologies,  The products have remained free to access, an increasingly rare position in contemporary media.

Q4:10/25 MARKS
Additional points
In order to score higher marks these are some of the points I should have considered, Responses may challenge the assumption about audiences for games through empirical evidence – arguing that women have always played games despite the representations. Multiple ways of targeting audience other than through representation can be considered narrative, identification with characters, skill and gameplay, nostalgia (Lara Croft). Debates around gendered identification with narrative characters would be relevant (the male gaze). Audience theories of encoding and effects could be used to analyse the relationship between content and audience, as well as the producers control over these responses.

4) Choose your weaker of the three 25-mark questions. Write a full, new essay plan for this question using the indicative content in the mark scheme and with enough content to meet the criteria for Level 4 (top level). This will be somewhere between 5-7 well-developed paragraphs planned in some detail.

Q2:

para 1:Introduction
Briefly explain the cultivation theory and what it is and who's theory it is, also introduce the 2 CSPS Capital and deustchland 83'

Para2:In this paragraph I would introduce my first television CSP Capital and relate ideas to cultivation theory and whether the theory is reinforced in capital , I will also include other relatable theorists and theories and go in deep analysis of the cultivations theory, and what effects it has on audience,

Para 3:
I will do the exact same thing as para 2 in paragraph 3 for Deutschland 83' second television CSP, a deep analysis of the csp and relating it to cultivation theory and applying the theory to the CSP and suggesting whether it has an effect or not.

Para 4: conclusion
In my 4th paragraph i would conclude whether how effective the cultivation theory is and whether or not it applies to the 2 television CSP'S and also suggest how VALID the theory is because in order to achieve higher level marks is it vital to refer back to the question.

5) Based on the whole of your Paper 2 learner response, plan FIVE topics / concepts / CSPs / theories that you will prioritise in your Easter Media revision timetable.

Cultivation theory
television csp Deutschland 83'
Teen vogue
The voice
