statement of intent- new script


I intend to produce a horror film trailer that is approximately 90 seconds long. I will also be creating three different posters which will initially raise awareness about my trailer. For the trailer I intent to use horror movie conventions such as suspenseful music, low key lighting and fast paced editing. The element of repetition (Neale) will enable my production to be recognized as horror, I will include equilibrium and disequilibrium (Todrov) however my trailer will end on a cliff hanger, so the audience is motivated in order to identify the new equilibrium . The trailer will will hint at the narrative which involves, a group of teenagers who are currently in high school and one of them experiences supernatural presences after reading a book. I will avoid giving away too much information in my trailer as that would cancel out any enigma codes.   

The camerawork is crucial for my type of production as it will not only convey the genre but also my narrative to an extent. I will be using a lot close ups as well as medium shots, high angle shots and low angle shots, I have been inspired by the use of camera work in the movie "The Babadook" the audience will be limited to what they see, this will cancel out dramatic irony and will engage the audience more with the characters so the audience is able to form personal relationships, this is crucial as my cast reflects my target audience. Another way I can build narrative is by using Barthes narrative theory by using voice overs as an action code and the silence from other characters as an enigma this will add to the suspense.  

I will be dressing my actors in casual clothing, also showing brands such as nike or adidas as this will increase the chances of the audience members engaging with the characters, the reason I will be focus a lot on the audience relating with my character so they that imagine themselves as the character therefore feel their fear. 


My target audience for this production will be teenagers/young adults; 15-25 years old. This demographic will be targeted through my cast who share the same age. The selection of demographic (C2DE) will be targeted as I believe these groups will enjoy my production the most and they are able to identify with the character the most.

I believe people who enjoyed The Babadook and the visit will enjoy my production as  as they are both are thriller/horror. I believe that BFI would be interested in funding my project and give my movie a 15 rated certificate, however as I will be using an iphone 6s to shoot my trailer a funding isn't necessarily required.

Sound video and feedback

feedback from others: Good use of clips. Good use of parallel sounds. Significant example of contrapuntal sound and parallel sound and sound bridge music overlapping in other scenes was used. The sound track perfectly matched the pace of the video. You had a range of different clips from different genres to show contrapuntal sound as well as parallel sound. Good transitions throughout the video. Music was parallel at the end. The contrapuntal scene matched the pace of the video. Good transitions made it smooth.
